I know of Maya Angelou because my mother wrote a short essay about her for one of her university assignments. She also owned a few of her books.
Maya Angelou was a warrior for peace, equality, tolerance and justice, an inspiration in a sea of hate. She taught people to love and respect themselves and to also love their enemies. She was a speaker who many aspired to be like. She was a phenomenal human being and set an example that many learnt from and indeed followed. She believed that everybody had something to offer this world. She gave various public speeches and addressed academic and corporate events. Maya received many awards for her efforts and hard work. She was filled with wisdom and humour and her quotes and sayings were used by millions of people all over the world. She was respected by the likes of Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Bill Clinton and befriended influential people like Malcom X and Nelson Mandela
May her memory and legacy inspire others to good around the world.. Rest in Peace..
